As a woman was pumping gas into her car, her ex-boyfriend, who had been repeatedly harassing her via text messages, allegedly appeared and began to assault her, hitting her with a rock and punching her in the face with his fists. He then poured diesel fuel on her and threatened to light her on fire. She attempted to escape to her truck, but the 38-year-old aggressor grabbed her. Fearing for her life, she was able to draw her handgun and fire, hitting him in the head. She then called police who, when they arrived, saw the woman had blood and diesel fuel on her shirt. At the time of this report, the attacker was in stable condition, and facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic assault and battery and first-degree arson. A 62-year-old man forced his way into a woman’s home early one evening on Chicago’s south side. However, it seems he chose the wrong woman to victimize, as the 31-year-old resident, who has a valid gun permit, shot him in the foot with her handgun. The man was taken to the hospital in stable condition and will face criminal trespassing charges. The woman was unharmed and will not face charges. (fox32chicago.com, 4/22/20, Chicago, Ill.)
