A Miami woman was in the master bathroom when she heard a commotion break out in the living room, where her family and friends had gathered to watch the NBA Finals. Video surveillance captured the moment when armed men intent on robbing the home ambushed her husband, friends and son. The woman told a local reporter she heard, “Get down! Get down! Give me everything you got!” as the intruders threatened her husband. Instinct kicked in and the woman quickly retrieved a handgun from her nightstand and opened her bedroom door, where she came face to face with one of the armed intruders. She said the man ordered her to put down her gun, but she refused. At that point, an exchange of gunfire ensued between her and the men. Her husband was able to break away and make it to the bedroom, where he took over for his wife in the effort to defend his family. The robbers were chased off by the gunfire, but not before grabbing some watches and jewelry. And although there was damage to the home, due to the actions of the brave mother and wife, the family was unharmed. The woman told reporters that she knew she had to do something, and her first instinct was to grab the gun and defend her husband and son. (local10.com, Miami, FL 10/21/20)
