A 29-year-old man who was acting in an “erratic and paranoid” manner was shot early one morning after he broke into a home, according to reports. The intruder had forced his way into a home as a resident answered the door. The would-be burglar reportedly entered the home behaving erratically, and frightening the homeowner as he ran outside to call for help. While the victim was trying to gain the attention of neighbors, the assailant kicked the door of another home in an apparent attempt to break in. As the initial victim sought help from a neighbor, the miscreant approached the home “acting in a suspicious manner” before he ran up to the door and followed the victim and neighbor inside. It was then that the intruder was shot, suffering non-fatal wounds. Authorities said alcohol and/or narcotics appear to have played a factor in the incident. The man was charged with two counts of burglary to an occupied dwelling. (wfla.com; Pinellas County, Fla., 7/13/22)

A 34-year-old woman noticed several young men attempting to break into her parked vehicle. When she confronted them, one of the offenders pointed a gun at her. Unfortunately for them, the woman was a legal CCW holder, and in fear for her life, discharged her own firearm, striking one of them. The rest of the hoodlums fled the scene, while the one with the gunshot wound—who turned out to be 13 years old—was transported in fair condition to a hospital. The woman was not injured. A woman arrived home after visiting with a friend when her husband began arguing with her. When the woman attempted to de-escalate the situation, it only made things worse, as her husband threw her to the ground and began shaking her. According to reports, the woman, in fear for her life, drew a pistol and shot her husband in the leg. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment, and is being held on $10,000 bail, charged with simple assault and harassment. The woman presented with bruises on her head and ribs, consistent with her story of her husband’s attack. (PAhomepage.com; Jessup, Pa., 8/12/22)
