Target With Rifle Holes

First in our lineup this week, our friends at America’s 1st Freedom have an inspiring story about women-only gun training being offered in Detroit: "…Made up of hundreds of women, young and old, tall and short, black and white and everything in between. There were Trump masks and Obama masks, Black Lives Matter shirts and Make America Great Again shirts—all adorning people patiently waiting to be introduced to firearms." Read the rest here

The truth is that all women deserve great gun safety and gun-handling training. That’s the driving force behind Arm the Populace, whose founder states, ““We at Arm The Populace do not care about the color of your skin, nor who you choose to love, nor what invisible entity in the sky you pray to,” said Doug Cooper, founder. “We believe personal defense is a basic right for everyone.” Amen.

Here at NRA Women, every month is Women’s History Month … but for the rest of the world, Women’s History Month is March. We’re Marching forward while remembering the past with a month of #ThrowbackThursdays highlighting her-stories that you may never have heard about. This week, we’re starting with the fiery, 6’ redhead of the Revolutionary War, Nancy Morgan Hart. War Woman Ahoy!

But what about the next generation of women history-makers? Sometimes inspiration comes in a 12-gauge shell. Eighteen-year-old Amy Cawley of Rochester, New York, never thought she would be looking there and never dreamed she would be entering college as a sponsored shotgun shooter. Read about this rising shooting star here.

One of the best parts about hunting is the healthy protein you can take home…but first, you have to get it off the animal. You’ve got a deer field-dressed, hung up by the legs and skinned. Now you’re staring at a carcass ready to be turned into meat. Where do you start? It’s easier than you think, so don’t miss our girl’s guide to butchering.

For everyday home defense, it’s tough to beat a traditional semi-automatic or pump-action shotgun with a full-length buttstock and tubular magazine. But, some applications call for specialized shotguns—of which there are many. Our friends at Shooting Illustrated have five great types of shotguns for home defense

In last week’s Top Training Tips from Pro Shooters, Gabby Franco and Dakota Overland shared their best advice to help you up your competitive shooting game. The advice continues with more great training suggestions from world pistol champion shooter Julie Golob and world sporting clays champion Diane Sorantino here!
