If you’re interested in starting your own hunting blog, this guide is for you! Let me start by saying that there are many ways for your work or passion to get noticed, and blogs are a fantastic option. While YouTube channels, podcasts, and TV shows are great platforms, this article will focus on what makes a blog stand out.

Authenticity is Key
Authenticity is crucial. Identify what sets you apart from everyone else and stay true to it. Passionate readers can spot a fake instantly. If you’re not an expert, that's OK! Many people prefer learning from someone going through the initial steps just like them. The key is to be genuine.

Utilize Photos and Videos
Photos and videos can enhance your blog significantly. Blogs are an excellent way to showcase your favorite gear, photography skills, video shooting and editing abilities, as well as your writing and storytelling talents. Combining various media into one easy-to-consume piece of information on a specific topic can make your blog engaging and memorable.

Keep Blogs Short and Concise
It's easy to go off on a tangent when discussing a subject, but the key to successful blogging is staying on point. If you have another idea, save it for another blog post. Aim to make your posts bite-sized pieces of information that are very specific about an experience or topic, backed up with great photos, videos, or a story.

Decide What Sets You Apart
Determine what makes you unique and focus on that area. Create catchy titles and consider searchability when coming up with them. Choose a platform to host your blog. You can offer your services to a larger publication or start your own website with a blog page. Platforms like Squarespace and WordPress have made it easy for non-developers to set up a website or blog, including adding videos, links and photos.

Promote Your Blog
Once your blog is up and running, promote it! Join social media groups, send links to larger companies, and market what you’ve created. Offering your work for free initially can help get your foot in the door. Once people start to see the benefits of your work, you can move to a paid basis.

There are two primary ways to monetize your blog once established:

  1. Writing for Companies: Offer to create quality blog content for companies in exchange for payment.
  2. Product Reviews and Promotions: Partner with companies or manufacturers to promote their products. Create exclusive pieces on your site that offer reviews, instructions, or education about their products, which they can link back to.

There’s no single way to start or make money through blogging, but these steps should give you a solid foundation. The key is to be yourself and outwork everyone else. In the long term, hard work will always be recognized and appreciated.
